My Project
I plan to create an audio file, in the genre of UK hard house. A popular electric dance music genre that arose in the 1990s.
As a collaborative group, we had a discussion for a creational theme everyone must go out of there comfort zone for this project.
I plan to compose a track in a genre I never composed before. I will also be very far out of my comfort zone wise as I plan to create in a DAW I never used before FL studios. I also plan for the final mix to use Pro Tools a DAW I have recently also started learning. I am very far out of my comfort zone.
Information about the genre “Hard House”
The most popular music genres of 20th century are pop music, hiphop – rap, k pop, edm. These are heavily pushed by listening sources like radio for example popular channels like radio 1 and bcc radio 2 and online streaming services like Spotify, YouTube for monetary benefit.
Listening sources of today are pushing specific genres and these all have the same thing in common, which is they all push “short form content”. The fight for attention is because the amount of content that can be accessed is immense, a context creator will more like get your attention if its for a small period of time. Therefore that’s why charted music now, tracks are longer than 2-3 minutes. Unfortunately this is the world we live in today where present and future generation will hear music algorithmically, for the benefit of revenue.
Hard house its a music genre to be heard for a sustaining amount of time, it can keep the brain awake and motivated for hours. Its great for exercise and gym sessions, long car journeys, dance for hours day/night time raves.
Huge part of todays generation with access to social media are themes and trends, implementing these for example in a old school genre where current produces don’t understand current themes and trends, me taking my own understanding will encourage todays generation to listen.
