This tutorial helps expand my capability in FL studios.
Breakdown of how to create a hard house track.
This video teaches a personal process, arrangement, FX and fills.
Process
Loops
Find a couple of loops you’re happy with. Sometimes you think you have a good idea however if the loop becomes annoying good sign to scrap.
Arrangement
Reference Track
Find a reference track you like the sound of.
- Time Stretch the reference track to the projects tempo.
- Aline the tic with first beat of the bar of the reference track.
Markers
Markers are a great tool for arrangement.
- Time Markers – Add One (Alt +T)
For example intro, loop two, pre breakdown, bass in, breakdown, drop and end.
Key Elements
- Kick
- Loop One
- Loop Two
Follow arrangement of reference track.
FX
FX help hear the track as a finished product.
Symbol Crashes
Placed on the first beat of the bar, this is also well known by DJs as it helps mixing tracks.
Crashes represent a new beginning in a track.
FX loops
Great for creating atmosphere.
FX Sweep
Build energy for a change in the track.
Fills
Fills go at the end of a section of bars.
Bar 8, 16 or 32 however there are no rules in creativity.
For this example 1 bar fill every 32 bars
Remove/drop out other percussion so you can hear fill, allows the fill to have room to breath in a track and creates energy.
