Fixing Mistakes

Clean Mix

Now the project is coming closer to being complete, I am now fixing mistakes and level motoring peeking and increasing the volume of quiet audio.

Im fixing the easy mistakes now therefor when it comes to the final mix it will be a case of focussing on the little details.

Using alchemy, logic brings in busses to the mix. These busses are acting derelict therefore I have removed all of them. It’s not only making the mix messy it’s also using unneeded computer processing power.

Fixing Mistakes

There was perviously a mistake made with how an audio file transitioned into the piece.

I wanted the sound of a passing by mo-ped to bring back the perspective into reality. Its loudness then causes the sound of tinnitus, I found a sound I recorded using alchemy to achieve this which was very successful and used the fade tool to correct any weird hearable frequency changes.

To fix the audio peeking, I selected all of the field recording sounds of London and used selected “Bounce in Place”.

This then allowed me to decrease the level and avoid audio peeking and distorting in playback. Decreasing computer processing power allowing to create without the DAW potentially crashing if project becomes overloaded.

“Dream/Past Memory Argument Scene”

I have made some changes to the “argument scene”. Changes include, a new sound found in alchemy chosen to create the feeling of discomfort.

I have been continuously sharing my work and receiving peer feedback, a main critique was the “argument is to quite” therefor to fix the volume of the argument I used a range of methods.

Reverb wasn’t a method to increase volume however was used to fine the sound and help making it sound like a flashback to past memory.

Gain helped amplify the volume to a higher level.

However there was in issue I ran into increasing the gain, it increased harsh frequencies that clipped and distorted in playback.

I used EQ to remove the harsh frequencies.

I used automation as a way to create movement with volume increasing its amplitude has the effect the argument is getting louder and more intense therefore creating tension.

“Awaken into Reality” is what I am calling this part of the soundscape. It brings the perspective out of the past memory and into reality.

This is a really successful transition back into the perspective of the nightmare of homelessness. I plan to carry on with the sound design, this is a start to inspire ideas to carry on creating to compose a minimum of 3 minutes worth of audio playback.

I used multiple tracks and made use of fade tool and used volume automation to really smoothen the transition.

Using alchemy is great tool to experiment with composing. This then inspires ideas, its effects feel dark, fearful and uncomforting all creating the perfect perspective of homelessness.

My Project so Far…

Currently my soundscape has a 2:30 duration which is very successful and extremely proud of.
