The topic ‘Radio Waves’ caught my attention from a conversation with a stranger.

First Thoughts
Location was at a view point in the South Downs close to home. This contraption caught my attention and others passing. Intrigued by what looked like someone ‘sky fishing’ I had to find out for myself what was going on here.
I was nervous to start the conversation however I managed to bring myself to ask about what he was doing. He was a really friendly person and actually bombarded me with information. I found it hard to take in what he was saying at first because I was nervous however I realised this and my nerves began to go. I was then able to fully engage, take in the information and ask questions I was really interested to know.
What was going on?
CB Radio, Citizens Band Radio. It’s designed to be used without the need for qualifications. By law CB radio is allowed, by using CB radio it is not breaking the law its to be used as hobby or business.
His name was Johno. Johno attaches an 11 meters high antenna to his car at view points all around the country. His words were “beats driving cab all night” which I responded “absolutely”.
I love meeting people who are wizards at what they do, especially when they are wizards of sound. I understood his wizardry by the equipment he was using and how they equipment was set up. I don’t know the full extent to his set up however I understood he had a CB Radio plugged into an external high voltage battery in the back of the car. It was brilliant to meet someone so interested and knowledgable of the topic of sound.
Background
For seven years of his life he travel around the world playing church bells. Did you know different countries structure their church bells differently which differentiate the noise of the bell. An interesting fact that could be cool to use for future projects, personal and academic.
He also explained how dangerous of a job it was, people actually die from it. He then told a story of someone he knew that was badly hurt from the job of church bells. The church bell wire wrapped around the worker and pulled him 6 feet high, smashing the worker back down to the floor. Horrible, but the worse of it was not over the wire then ripped off leaving him with huge rope burn across the chest.
Information about Radio Waves
When it’s summer the radio waves get trapped by sun light so the radio waves bounce around the world, John said in summer he picked up Spanish radio from England.
Conclusion
I want to learn about radio waves and I am interested about how they work and how natural causes effect radio waves and do radio waves effect humans.
