This is an activity to write down my thoughts and experiences from listening to this album…
1. disoedd
The scene of the place feels like a chamber creating a scene of horror along the feedback/radio interface sounds really set the mood of a tense listening experience.
2. gainiwr
Track 1 does a great job setting the tone and taste of horror to come for track 2. The bass instantly made me feel something was coming… This track has a musical quality that I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed how the track starts it’s powerful. High-pitch feedback was great such an uneasy sound to listen to but I love it.
3. semiadur
This is amazing the visual production I can imagine would be in Saw X. The pulsing mid-tone creates this unnatural cognitive machine effect with high-pitch feedback creating this electronic interference. You could interpret this scene as a place ‘beneath the darkness’. I feel like to me the scenes of places are the energy of a significantly dark place maybe the feel of Alcatraz prison.
4. gyrofa
Alain apocalypse vibe! There are many great disturbing sounds but a few that really unsettled me were the beginning bomb siren, the constant clown voice and the disorientation of the listening experience because of the use of stereo and binaural features.
5. rebarbiaeth
Immeidet sci-fi vibe, drone tones are followed with distance voice, synthesis and high frequencies. The stylistic choice to make the piece feel delayed is great. It’s like I’m listening in real time but I am far away. I haven’t searched the definitions for the names of the tracks yet however the title is similar to the English word rebirth which I feel is very fitting for this track. It feels as if it the rebirth of something or someone.
6. cofiment
That title again is close to the word confinement which listening to this piece makes me feel I am in a confined space. The instruments create a sense of movement however I’m taken back to the same place and therefore feel stuck in a confined space of an unsettling darkness, horror, that is inescapable.
7. duwography
Really amazingly unique stylistic choices to have sounds that start and end abruptly to create a scene of the moment. There’s a consistent feel of the building up of tension that never gets realised in the way your brain expects.
8. llox
Another great undesirable and indescribable experience however if I were to put it into words I would say it feels like I’m in a realm of evil and the mind of someone with psychotic thoughts. I am finding it hard to further explain my experience of track 8.
9. ffosination
Synthesis feels like game design. Feels like I am in the game of evil intentions. The frequency is communicating with the voice. This feels like a conversation in a sonic language.
10. xeroriaeth
The final track feels like it’s taking me out of this evil realm through the reversed drones which is a perfect ending for this album.
Conclusion
To conclude my listening experience this album perfectly executed the sense of space in the realm of evil. This album also inspires me because of the thought of track placement to cater towards the listening experience of the journey of the album. I am also inspired by the sound of evil and how it’s captured not through natural sounds but through synthesis and effects to field recordings which are made unnatural because of the consciousness sonic experience. To capture the sound of evil you must capture the inner thoughts and consciousness state of a person of evil thoughts and intentions.
