Sound History Podcast

Class Reflection

We as a class reflected on all ‘sound history’ episodes in the series. We covered a wide range of topics which led to some really interesting discussions as a class.

Inspiration

I personally found it hard to tune into the episodes and process the information. Relating back to last week’s lesson ‘Voices’ I believe I couldn’t tune in because of an example of nuances. I am used to non-formal podcasts covering topics very different to history but as in result of participating in this activity, I learned about the tonality and texture of ‘Voices’ I would like to include in my audio paper. For my audio paper, I am going to use non-formal language with a spin of academic perspective on electronic magnetic fields.

Interesting Thoughts & Topics that arose from today’s class Discussions

Questions for Audio Paper

How sound has been made, by whom, for what purposes, and with what impact, across times and places.

Who is Speaking?

Voice isn’t truth it is an opinion. Who will be speaking in my audio paper?

  1. Voice of Zaron Lane, a sound art student living in today’s world of 2023 exposed to the modern world of technology.
  2. Voice of AI-generated to underpin voice 1 and sometimes becomes the main voice of focus.

Good idea to understand the subcultures that create the whole cultural aspect of an audio paper topic.

Be careful when researching you are likely to be wrong and expect to be wrong. You will find views that are biased to your personal views.

[Resources] Media representations, for example, films (possibly extract soundtracks)

“Audopolictics” Intersting consept.

Be open to the idea of difference. The difference gives you a full understanding.
