Technical Editing
Music Composition

Before
After

I have intentionally used a high cut which creates a smooth transition keeping the continuity of the texture of the music. The low-end creates a dramatic feeling to the cinematic experience.
Ambiences

This is an example of using volume automation to transition between two tracks which have alternative EQ settings.
Track 1

Track 2

I needed to create two ambiences depending on the perspective through sound. The higher the cut the more dream state/consciousness of sound becomes the reality. Transitions depend on the perspective of the story’s narrative being told through sound.
I am very happy with the idea and critical thinking behind these technical changes however as good as the ambience sounds, it still feels too dreamy I think there needs to be another layer that’s not so low of a frequency that will enhance the sonic world.
Sound Design
I have been sound designing the ending of the piece which is all about tension. Using all my own sounds I have created something very unique and am very happy with it.

I used the contact microphone called…

…and recorded me increasing the gain from 0-max to create the rippling distorted effect in a high-volume space where vibrations were high.
I also used the recording of my heartbeat to emphasise the dramatic effect if there was a sound made.

I have chosen to remove the musical element from the ending. Heartbeat fading out with no music has a far greater effect than with the music. It is just as important to what not to put in, as to put in sound.
Footsteps

The footsteps are a primary synchronised sound. I have some very successful recorded Foley however I have found footsteps I would like to re-edit because of volume and reverb levels are too high.
I will return to a previous project alternative and re-edit then bounce as a stem to import back into the project.

I realised automating the volume was the best option and has worked very well to achieve the intentions I had in mine to resolve the loudness of some footsteps.
After rewatching everything there is just one unsatisfaction, the missing sound design here. Would adding sound design ruin the effect the silence has? I am still deciding should I leave silent or add in sound design.
Fade In
The use of fading smoothens the transition which acts nicer on the ear.
