I am using Logic as the DAW to begin experimenting with the practical work for this project.
I had the idea of using sampled audio as I was watching YouTube videos researching EMFs. I will reference all sampled audio with a bibliology using the Harvard system which I am familiar with.
I love the creativity of the theme EMF as I can manipulate the sampled audio in various ways. I can take it to wherever my mind takes me, there’s no limit.
This experimentation was successful I used my technical skills to edit sampled audio manipulating time and pitch for a sensory confusion resembling how EMF caused confusion to the human sensory system.
New Ideas
- Include Interviews
New ideas occurred from this experimentation. I want to interview my classmates to give perspective on how uncommon knowledge of the effects of EMF is to humans because throughout our lives exposure will only increase. My audio paper will inform people of the effects and bring light to the topic that is so suppressed.
Netflix documentaries include interviews which inspired me to include my own interviews in my work.
I will have pre-made questions,
- What’s your name and how old are you?
- Do you know what EMFs are?
- Are you senstive to EMFs?
- Do you use a speaker phone when you are phone calls?
- Do you use your laptop on your lap?
I have to also think about the microphone choice and the acoustic space.
Stereo microphones capture the reflections of a space truly capturing the acoustics of a space. Mono is used for centring the voice in the middle of the mix used in well-treated acoustic spaces.
I been developing the idea of creating an immersive soundscape of the university canteen capturing the perspective of the technological world we live in today. Emerge this idea with the interview idea would be perfect. I will interview classmates in the canteen using stereo microphones and create an immersive experience for my audio paper.
Conclusion
The expiration has been successful and inspired new ideas. The next step is to plan and record interviews with classmates about EMF.
