Sound Arts Y2/BA visit Drake Music.

As part of my degree, I haven’t chosen this pathway, however, this was a brilliant experience hearing first-hand about the amazing work of Drake Music making musicianship accessible to everyone.

Co-design methodology

Many people can’t play instruments due to limitations of their physical ability. Drake Music works directly with the person with a disability to ensure the walls are broken down from all limitations.

Instrument Replicas

By making an instrument replica the person with the disability gets to have the full musician experience. A relationship directly with the instrument rather than iPads.

Drake Music has created violin harps and oboes that are all touch-sensitive instruments and include self-contained sound speakers that replicate acoustic instruments.

Sound Beam

An instrument worth £3000, that’s 22 years old that sold commercially for those who have disabilities wishing to play instruments. The high-powered well well-engineered and designed sound beam uses sensors to activate its instrumentation.

The spaghetti cable management makes it up painter set up, however once set up the instrument is extremely accessible to those with the disability that this instrument takes down those wars of limitation.

An amazing onsight experience about the organisation Drake Music that is making the world of music accessible to everyone.
