Part 1: Podcast

Radio Topia Presents Ways of Hearing. We together as a class listened to this podcast which was 20 minutes long. Our audio paper is half the duration.

Thinking about other ways to be artistic this audio paper had a book with a script to follow with pictures.

The task was to critically listen and take on inspiration. I liked this podcast, especially the sound design the transitions used filters and fades which will inspire my work.

Life World

Perception limits our ‘Life World’.

Our physical body limits how far we can possibly sense our world. A human’s experience will be different from that of other species. Is it impossible to fully sense our universe?

I want to take on this topic of ‘Life Forms’ and incorporate it into my audio paper on how EMF affects our ‘Life Forms’. The neuroscience research will discuss this topic.

Acid Communism

What Is Acid Communism? (https://medium.com/swlh/what-is-acid-communism-e5c65ecf6188)

I found this text fascinating as Milo described Mark Fisher gives us the vocabulary for feelings very well. Mark Fisher wrote a book about ‘Acid Communism’ which took my interest when Milo brought this up therefore after a Google search I found a ‘5-minute read’ about Mark Fisher’s Acid Communism book written by Stuart Mills.

In a world where the future has been cancelled, where we are unable to imagine new futures…In my opinion, acid communism is an evolution of thought

Openminded discussions like this take my interest as I am looking for the answers to the universe every day. Our future has been cancelled due to closed-mindedness which unfortunately is controlled to be ‘the normal’ to the many.

Vinyl Texture of Audio

Milo used a vinal player to playback audio which inspired me to further think about the textures of audio. Vinyl was described to have a warm texture which I agree and instriped by. The scratchy and flickery tones were inspiring.

Conclusion

Research doesn’t correspond directly to EMFs however mind expanding context is critical to developing ideas further which is inspirational to my practice. ‘Life Forms’ really interesting perspective to research and discuss which is why it inspired me to include in my audio paper how EMF affect ‘life forms’.
