Struggling to Progress
I am currently working on the beginning, creating sound design to achieve the feeling of dreaming in early hours and progress the piece into a nightmare. I found success however there’s been a lot more failure.
Im struggling with my creative flow as I am working in a really messy main window. I need to clean the main window with track stacks and folders allowing me to work more effectively and efficiently.
A lot of the tracks are audio tracks of cuts from field recordings. Attempting to later bring it into the composition, it failed. You can hear error as there’s major change and jump in the frequencies.
In the first 10 seconds you hear the jumps.
I want the transition to be smother, I managed to achieve in the “nightmare streets of London” sound design with EQ change, it disguised the jumps.
Also because the main window is so messy, the midi instrumentation tracks have been changed by accident and are now are playing the wrong instrumentation.
I made project alternatives as back up therefore I will be returning to a previous project alternative will fix this error and I will need to clean my main window and carry on creating.
Previous Project Alternative

Great starting point to continue my practical work. After todays practical session I will have made a lot of change and have a better soundscape.
Also I need to make a start on research about artist statements to help my knowledge when writing my artist statement of 400 words of my own.

This is a short draft however an example of what is to come.
Failing previously with making smooth transition, I have been experimenting finding a fix. Using automation to pan and using the fade tool I have found a really successful fix.

Crossfading audio fixes the jumpiness.
Panning the audio keeps yours ears aware which represents the fact the homeless persons sad reality they have no choice but to be aware of their surroundings to survive.
Progression Update

I created a really successful soundscape capturing how sound is sonically perceived from a homelessness person perspective. Showcasing how sound is heard with poor mental and physical heath I have included high frequency sounds of tinnitus, low end heart beats and low end sustaining pads showcasing disillusion.
This is still a project in the works therefore there are a few mistakes needed to be fixed for example there are big jumps in the levels between recorded midi which can be fixed with level monitoring, the goal is to avoid distortion in playback.
There are sound effects that levels need to be adjusted for stronger impact, a few examples would be that the argument levels need increasing and the light switches levels need lowering.
In Depth Analysis

Begins hearing police sirens I have also included a revered layer to create the feeling of a nightmare.

Really happy with the new arrangement and how the sound design corresponds with composition, such a successful beginning.

Mistake I will have to fix is I want the listener to be thrown in more to the sound of mod ped and be awoken by it. Currently it is not creating the correct mood.
I am happy with the new arrangement I used the same midi I previously found however corrected the arrangement.

Crossfading and panning automation very successful creating a disillusioned space. I will have to fix levels audio becomes distorted around this section however the foundation is made.
The heart beat was a successful addition to add creating tension and bring effect to the feeling of internal awareness.

An idea of including a past traumatic memory came about from a YouTube researching homelessness.
This video states he became homeless from relationship problems, this then gave me the idea to include an argument from a couple in my soundscape form the perspective of memory.

As I am unable to field record this sound I found a downloadable alternative. Once the levels have been adjusted this will be a very successful part of my soundscape.

The transition is reused from an earlier one I made and is extremely successful, it gives the feeling they are awaken into reality. Followed up is a field recording I will further sound design and compose.

I found returning to a previous project alternative more successful and achieve great amounts of work with keeping my creative flow rolling. This is due to keeping the main window tidy and colouring selected regions. Colour coded my project, red being audio files (field recordings) and blue being composition.
