We used Ableton in this session. My understanding of the DAW is becoming stronger however I am still at a novice level understanding the navigation.
Automation
If you click on a parameter (for example frequency’s) then return into midi edit mode you can automate as you wish.
Mapping
CMD + M = Mapping
This allows you to map controls to your midi keyboard.
CMD + K = Keyboard Mapping
This allows you to map keyboard midi controller to edit window parameters.
These are the correct MIDI preference settings for future reference.

You can play patterns that fit together though scenes.
IAC Driver
You can find this in midi controller window studio.
You can use a IAC driver to route playback from channels however I was very lost and didn’t really understand the process.

Granted Synthesis: Related to sampling but it takes samples into little pieces. Normal sound waves form playback, left to right however granted synthesis play different parts at different rates.
