Week 8: Site-Specific Multi-Channel Installation

About this Lesson

We explored site-specific and site-responsive installations which gave us thoughts into the future for Element 2.

Site Specific

…means it has been commissioned for that space. Say goodbye to your comfort zone in your home studio space.

Cons

  • After that space, it will never be experienced the same.

Pros

  • Funnding oportuintes.

Site Responsive

…which arranges certain elements that our unknown until people engage with your site-responsive work.

Activities

Consideration of Site-specific Work (Exercise)

My Idea…

…Confined dark space resembles the feeling of a claustrophobic environment that plays back sounds that are hard to listen to for experimentation to see how senses react. How uncomfortable can you make a person feel through site-specific work? and future how they react can play a role in site-responsive work.

Hand In

Ingrid Plum our Year Tutor and this unit Specialisation Lecture will be marking our work using the Octophonic Ring therefore there are certain requirements I must make to make sure the marking can be a smooth process.

  1. Multi-Mono Bounce

Instead of having 8 stems individually assigned to each speaker I can bounce in multi-mono and have 1 audio file that has the data saved to playback in 8.1 dub.

2. Reflective Writing

  • Halltisc meaning the body of your work will be marked therefore including problems and where your time went is critical.
  • The decision-making process needs explaining in reflective writing as well.
  • Consider Writing about what HAS happened rather than what has NOT happened.

To make sure I have made the best effort possible to complete this element to the best of my ability I have booked a time slot with Rory for 20 minutes in the octophonic space to make any technical changes.

Side Note

Echoes App

Ingrid brought up echoes which I noted down to further research.
