Architecture

He began studying Architecture and developed an interest in Physcodelic Architecture in London interested me and the ideology that architecture is a theoretical landscape is also very interesting to me.

I asked the question has he ever combined the two? However unfortualty he hasn’t. He said he’s very much see it, in his horizon.

Empty Set

Paul Purgas created ‘Empty Set’ where he collaboratively realsed albums of electronic composition. His words were his first 2 albums reslased went unreconsised however that didn’t matter because he enjoyed the process which I strongly agree with. Reconition shouldn’t determain the process to art.

Sound & Space

Paul work began to gain recognition when he combined his disppinarys with architecture and sound and created records within site-specific work.

…combining electronic music and physical space to create sound art.

Performing Architecture

In collaboration with Tate Britian Paul used the space of a Neclur Power Plant to minipltae electronic sound for a record.

Radio

Signal transmitted through space. Elevating the level to push yourself, the jump was made from nuclear to the space of the planet. How does radio signal travel? “ionosphere” propagation signal bounce from earth to the atmosphere and repeat.

Creating Instrumentation Made for a Space

Thinking beyond Electronic instrumentation to how sound is heard as acoustic instrumentation in a space. Paul infused a relationship between Sound and Terrain within his work.

How?

Sign wave sweep of a space, finding room resistants recording data/graphs. Working with the harmonics of a space. Using natural room harmonics enhances custom-made acoustic instrumentation.
